It was over 30 years ago, but I remember it like it was yesterday. I was in a prayer meeting with one of my mentors, Eitan Shishkoff, and he said he felt like the Lord was wanting him to move to Israel and start an outreach to Russian Jewish immigrants.
I had such a witness in my spirit, I practically jumped across the table—“Yes, you have to do it!”
And the wonderful thing is Eitan followed the Lord and after a few years of living in Israel, Tents of Mercy became a reality.
It is now a thriving Messianic community and has birthed several other congregations in the Galilee and Haifa region, where many Russian-Speaking Jewish immigrants have settled. And a few years ago, Eitan successfully handed off the leadership of the ministry to the second generation—his Ethiopian Jewish son-in-law, Avshalom Tekel.
Tents of Mercy provides humanitarian aid to the region, so you can imagine how busy they have been this year with the influx of tens of thousands of Ukrainian refugees! What an opportunity it has been to demonstrate the love of Yeshua to so many who have suffered so much.
As we work to reach all the Cities of Israel, such as Haifa, with the good news of Yeshua the Messiah, would you consider making a monthly donation or a one-time gift today?
There is much work to be done before Yeshua’s return! You are a vital partner in reaching all Israel with the gospel.
