The Death of New York
I went to bed last night sickened. I had just read that the state of New York proudly, with glee, passed an abortion bill that legalizes abortion up to the due date—for any reason!

Let me break this down for you. Let’s say a woman is eight months pregnant and goes into labor. Her baby is born. Then, for whatever reason, she and the father decide that they don’t want the baby. Maybe it’s the gender or the hair color…maybe they realize suddenly that they don’t want a baby. So, they decide to terminate the baby. They have the doctor take him in a back room and kill him.
In this scenario, the mother, father and doctor would all be arrested for murder. And rightly so. However, in New York, if that same baby is one month older, but still in the womb, he is fair game. Those same parents can contract with the hitman…I mean, doctor…to murder the child, and they are celebrated in New York for exercising their ‘reproductive rights.’
How about this scenario: this same hypothetical mother is pregnant with twins. For some reason (I doubt this is medically possible), one of the babies is delivered a month early. But her other baby stays in the womb. Under New York State law, it would be perfectly fine for those parents, realizing how hard it is to take care of one baby (much less two), to end the life of the second baby in the womb.
Bishops not Happy
Governor Andrew Cuomo, who may be excommunicated by the Catholic church, is celebrating this achievement. He declared this “a historic victory for New Yorkers and for our progressive values.” However, Cardinal Timothy Dolan and other New York Bishops wrote,
“Our beloved state has become a more dangerous one for women and their unborn babies.“Our governor and legislative leaders hail this new abortion law as progress. This is not progress. Progress will be achieved when our laws and our culture once again value and respect each unrepeatable gift of human life, from the first moment of creation to natural death.”
While I am boldly prolife—once going briefly to jail for blocking the entrance to an abortion clinic—I understand that not everyone agrees with me. Some think it is okay to abort for different reasons and/or at different times in the pregnancy. But how in the world can you say that the right to end a fully developed human life is even remotely close to the constitution’s guarantee of a right to privacy (Roe vs. Wade is based on the 14thAmendment)!?
New York has become sick! What person decides to kill a baby that has been forming for nine months, listening to their parent’s voice, sucking their genuine thumb and kicking with their very real legs? What state celebrates this as a victory? Since when did the right to kill become cause for a party?
Woe to the governor of New York and his legislature for loving the shedding of blood over innocent life. They may not give account at the voting booth, but they will in the age to come.
Just for Life of the Mother
You may have heard that the New York law merely extends permission to abort in cases where the life of the mother is in danger. According to LifeNews, that is not the case.
“The bill appears to restrict late-term abortions, but it adds a broad ‘health’ exceptionfor abortions after 24 weeks. The exception would allow women to abort unborn babies up to nine months of pregnancy for ‘age, economic, social and emotional factors, rather than the biological definition of “health” that normally comes to mind,’” quoting New York Right to Life.
Lawmakers purposely make the issue of health as broad as possible to ensure access to abortion for a variety of none life-threatening reasons. So, in essence, a woman who is pregnant with a healthy baby, but is going through an emotional breakdown, could terminate his or her life at nine months in New York.
And let’s be honest, if a woman is eight and half months pregnant, and the baby inside her is threatening her life, abortion is not the safest way to retrieve the baby from her womb. An emergency C-section would be the safer method. A C-section can be done in seconds, whereas abortion can last hours.
Matt Walsh of the Daily Wire details how long and gruesome and inhumane, a late term abortion is:
The baby is injected with a poison directly into his skull or torso. He then suffers a hideously painful death, which he will certainly feel because of his developed nervous system. The mother carries the corpse around in her womb for a day. The next day, there is an ultrasound to check if the baby is dead. If he isn’t — if he has been writhing and suffering in agony for the past 24 hours, clinging onto life — then he will be injected again. The following day, the mother delivers her dead child. Sometimes she delivers him at the clinic, but if she can’t make it on time, the clinic is perfectly happy to recommend that she give birth into her toilet.
I have friends who gave birth at just over five months. That ‘baby’ is now married and in her twenties. If a five-month-old fetus is viable outside the womb, how in God’s name can someone kill a seven, eight or, God forbid, a nine-month old fetus?
Culture of Murder
Murder is demonic. When you kill someone, something happens to you. When you repeatedly look at pornography, you become addicted. It’s the same with drugs. And…it’s the same with murder. You start to enjoy it. You start to look forward to it. The action of taking someone else’s life is empowering in the most evil of ways. Some become drunk on the power to decide if someone lives or dies. We saw this in Nazi Germany, where average human beings who had never dreamed of killing someone, became rabid murderers.
This is the only thing that can explain the left’s view of abortion—not just toleration, but celebration. It is not just legal, but encouraged.
As the bill passed, someone in the New York Senate shouted, “May Almighty God have mercy on this state!”
