This week, two young Jewish staffers at the Israeli Embassy in Washington, D.C. were gunned down in a shocking incident of anti-Semitism. As the terrorist was apprehended by authorities, he told them he did it for “Palestine and for Gaza” and he repeatedly yelled “Free Palestine.”

Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Lynn Milgrim were murdered outside the Capital Jewish Museum Wednesday night. They had attended an event for young diplomats to discuss strategies for helping civilians in Gaza. The couple was passionate about establishing peace in the Middle East between Christians, Jews, and Muslims.

And they had plans to build a life together. Lischinsky and Milgrim were set to travel to Jerusalem next week to get engaged.

Lischinsky made aliyah to Israel when he was 16 and served in the military. Born to a Jewish father and Christian mother, Lischinsky became a follower of Yeshua and was a part of a congregation in Jerusalem.

“I remember he had a strong friend group and they were just super close and loved God and loved Yeshua and just were passionate about really making an impact,” Vanessa Mistretta, a member of the Jerusalem congregation said.

Milgrim was also a follower of Yeshua. She was raised in Kansas and was active in the Jewish community.

Make no mistake—anti-Semitism makes no distinction between Messianic, Orthodox, or secular Jews. According to the Times of Israel, anti-Semitism has surged 340 percent worldwide in recent years.

The Messianic community in America, Israel, and around the world is in mourning. Please pray for the family of both Yaron and Sarah.

Shabbat Shalom.
