James Fishback Misuses Scripture at Liberty University...Students Applaud

Recently, a student at Liberty University asked James Fishback a sincere question: Where does the New Testament show God’s special heart for the Jewish people? Fishback answered with a round of applause, a few Bible verses, and a debating tactic. In this video, I go through his answer line by line and compare it to what the Bible says.
We look at:
👉Romans 9–11 and Paul’s anguish for his own people
👉Galatians 3:28 (Fishback cited “Galatians 6”) and what Paul means by “neither Jew nor Gentile”
👉1 Timothy 5:8, a verse about providing for one’s household, which Fishback applied to a secular nation
👉The covenant promises in Genesis 12, 26, 28 and 35, Numbers 24 and Psalm 105
👉Why “Netanyahu lied us into a war” echoes an old conspiracy theory, and what The Protocols of the Elders of Zion were
👉How a debate tactic works, and why the student’s actual question never got answered
Some context: Fishback was invited by a student group, the College Republicans. Liberty University did not invite him, and I’m asking the university to respond. I’m also a Liberty graduate (D.Min. in spiritual formation), so I care about this. He has also publicly praised the followers of Nick Fuentes, a self-described white nationalist and Holocaust denier. A woman who worked for his debate nonprofit as a teenager has alleged that a relationship with him began when she was 17. He denies it. I’m not the judge of that, but it’s a serious question for anyone presenting himself as a moral authority to young believers.
I would love the opportunity to debate Mr. Fishback on the subject if he is willing. Pray that Liberty University might make such a venue available.
