8 Reasons Why Modern Israel Is the Israel of the Bible

1. Biblical prophecy.

There are dozens of prophecies in the Hebrew Scriptures that speak of Israel's restoration as a nation in our ancestral homeland. The prophets repeatedly describe the Jewish people being scattered among the nations and subsequently regathered to the land God promised to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (Isaiah 11:11–12; Jeremiah 30:3; Ezekiel 36:24; 37:21–22; Amos 9:14–15). If you think these were already fulfilled after the Babylonian exile, note that many of these prophecies refer to Israel being scattered throughout the world—not merely to Babylon.

2. The same people.

Modern Israel is the national homeland of the Jewish people, the descendants of the ancient Israelites. Despite nearly 2,000 years of dispersion, persecution, and exile, the Jewish people maintained their identity, faith, traditions, and connection to the land. DNA proves that modern Jews came from the Levant (the area of modern Israel). (WATCH my video about this).

3. The same land.

Modern Israel exists in the same geographical region where Abraham walked, David ruled, and the prophets ministered. Jerusalem, Hebron, Bethlehem, Shiloh, and the Galilee are not mythical locations. They are real places with demonstrable connections to biblical history proven by archaeology.

4. The same language.

Hebrew, the language of the Hebrew Scriptures, has been revived as the everyday language of the Jewish nation. This is unprecedented in history. Though Hebrew was preserved for centuries in Jewish religious and literary life, its restoration as a modern spoken language is extraordinary. (Read the story of Eliezer ben Yehuda, who gave his life to see modern Hebrew revived as the language of the future Jewish state.)

5. The same covenant people.

In Jeremiah 31:35–37, God declares that Israel will not cease to be a nation before Him as long as the established order of creation endures. Paul reinforces this in Romans 11:1–2, asking, "Did God reject his people?" His answer is emphatic: "By no means!" In Greek, it is literally, “No, may it never be.”

6. The same prophetic destiny.

Ezekiel 36–37 describes Israel's physical restoration to the land and spiritual renewal. In Ezekiel 37, the dry bones come together before receiving breath. Many Messianic believers and Christians understand this as a picture of Israel's national restoration preceding a future spiritual awakening.

7. The same unrevoked calling.

Romans 11:28–29 explicitly states that, regarding election, the Jewish people remain loved on account of the patriarchs: "for God's gifts and his call are irrevocable." Paul wrote these words after the resurrection of Jesus, making it clear that God's covenant purposes for Israel had not been canceled; they cannot be canceled.

8. The same future was confirmed to the apostles.

In Acts 1:6, the disciples ask the resurrected Yeshua, "Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?" Yeshua does not correct their expectation of Israel's restoration. Instead, He tells them that the timing belongs to the Father. He does not correct this expectation, but tells them to focus on the preaching of the gospel to all nations.

The central point:

The modern State of Israel is not identical to the biblical kingdom of Israel in its government, borders, or spiritual condition. Nor does recognizing Israel's prophetic significance mean approving every decision of its government. Rather, the argument is that the Jewish people remain the covenant people described in Scripture, and their return to their ancestral homeland is consistent with the promises of the Hebrew prophets.

Name one other nation that was physically separated from its homeland for centuries, that was re-gathered to proclaim an independent nation, resurrected a dead language, and had prophecies from 2500 years ago that it would all happen. Name one. Just think about it. 2500 years ago, a dozen prophets declared that Israel would be scattered and re-gathered as a nation, and then it happened. Do you really think that was a coincidence?
