WATCH! Shepherds Feeding Themselves? The Bible’s Warning About Greedy Leaders

I just recorded a short video that’s been on my heart for a while—and it’s not exactly a light topic.
The New Testament gives repeated, serious warnings about spiritual leaders who use the gospel for personal gain.
Jude calls them “shepherds feeding themselves.”
Paul warns about those who think “godliness is a means to financial gain.”
He even says some are “peddling the word of God for profit.”
That’s strong language—and it should get our attention.
In the video, I talk about what this can look like today. It’s not always in obvious ways, but sometimes through subtle pressure, emotional appeals tied to giving, or even leveraging trust in a community for financial benefit.
To be clear, the issue isn’t that ministers are supported. Scripture affirms that.
The issue is when the way money is raised creates a built-in incentive to manipulate, pressure, or blur the line between spiritual authority and financial gain.
Jesus showed us a completely different model. He didn’t enrich Himself from His followers—He washed their feet. That’s the contrast.
Take a minute to watch the video and let me know your thoughts.
