Shabbat Shalom!
Last night, people in Tel Aviv awoke in the middle of the night to a loud BOOM! I immediately texted my daughter, who lives there. No one knew what it was at first. This morning, we learned that the Iran-back terror group based in Yemen launched an explosive-laden drone to Tel Aviv, where it struck an apartment building before dawn, killing one and wounding several others.
Sirens should have sounded alerting people to hide in their safe rooms or in stairwells, but due to human error those sirens never sounded. The military was aware that the drone had entered Israel, but did not take it out.
This is another new reality for Israel. Not only do we have to contend with Hamas in the south and Hezbollah in the north—but a drone can blow up a house or an apartment in the middle of the night.
This latest deadly attack comes on the very day that the International Court of Justice in The Hague plans to deliver an opinion on Israel’s occupation of so-called Palestinian territories since 1967. Just like today, we did not start the Six Day War, which ended with Israel not only controlling Judea, Samaria, and Gaza but the entire Sinai desert. And in that war, we had warned Jordan who controlled Jerusalem and the West Bank, to stay out of the war and that we would not attack them. However, they were deceived by the Egyptian president, who claimed to the king of Jordan that they were winning the war (when in fact, most of Egyptian airfield had already been destroyed, along with much of their Air Force), so Jordan entered the war. In just two days, Jordan’s forces were pushed over back the river.
Surrounded by several belligerent nations who are sworn to our destruction, what would the ICJ have us do with the newly acquired lands? Should we simply withdraw and wait for the next war?
In the same way, how would they have us respond to deadly drones from Iran-backed terrorists? Maybe they should focus on Iran a bit more, as the radical Islamic regime continues to destabilize the whole region.
Yeshua
The people of Israel are suffering and they need salvation. There is a report that over 30% of Israelis would leave the country if they could. In addition to dealing with the existential threats to Israel’s existence, there’s a tremendous lack of trust in the government and even the army. Israel is in a pressure cooker. Our prayers are that God will use this pressure to move the Jewish people to their Messiah. He is the only true and lasting answer. May we see the fulfillment of Zechariah 12:10 in our day?
“And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication. They will look on me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son.”
Shabbat Shalom!
You always have my love and my prayers. I am proud, proud, proud to stand with Israel and my dear friends at Tikkun Global. How proud we are of you, Ron Cantor, that you gave up a happy and comfortable life in Virginia to make a very real difference in the lives of Israelis, Jews all over the world, and all those who need Yeshua throughout the Middle East and beyond! May our beloved King hold your hand and pour blessings on your dear family! Sincerely in His Great Name, Anne and Steve Chick (River of Life Church, Jacksonville, NC)
