At War with Iran on Purim

While there have been existential threats from Iran and a shadow war for many years, for the first time in the modern history of Israel, we are at war with an ancient enemy—Persia/modern-day Iran—ON Purim.
Typically, Purim is a festive time of celebration, with people wearing crazy costumes and eating the traditional (and delicious) Hamantash cookie treat. We read and remember the story of Esther and how God moved behind the scenes to defeat the wicked plans of Haman to destroy the Jewish people scattered across the vast Persian Empire.
This year people are not doing much celebrating. Plans have been cancelled, as we all shelter at home and stay very close to bomb shelters.
Earlier today, Elana and I went for a walk and thought we had the “all clear” signal. But we got about 200 yards from our home and the sirens started going off. We started running toward home.
When the sirens go off, you only have a few seconds or maybe a minute before the bombing begins.
Thankfully, we saw a bomb shelter on the way and ran in there. While in there, we heard five or six booms which we assume were interceptions.
Thank you for all your prayers. I see them on Facebook and we are so grateful.
🙏 Please continue to pray for Israel—for our leaders, our military, for God’s protection over our nation (which is even BETTER than the Iron Dome, though we are so thankful for that technology!). Pray for the hearts of the Jewish people to turn towards their Messiah, the Prince of Peace, Yeshua.
🙏 Pray for Iran—for the believers there, for revival to spread, for the people to rise up and take back their nation from the radical ideology that has ruled it for decades.
🙏 Pray for the US and her leaders and military—for wisdom and protection. Pray for all the nations that are impacted in this conflict.
🙏 Above all, let us pray together that God’s kingdom would come and his will would be done, on earth as it is in the heavens.
May God deliver Israel dramatically again as in the days of Esther. Thank you for standing with Israel.
