US continues urging Muslim countries to seek normalization with Israel

In the quest for more countries to normalize relations with Israel, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo met with Saudi Arabia’s foreign minister while a former Sudan politician said he is trying to organize a delegation of Sudanese citizens to visit Israel in a push for peace with the Jewish state.

The United States brokered historic peace deals between the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain with Israel resulting in the signing of the Abraham Accords on Sept. 15 at the White House.

“We hope Saudi Arabia will consider normalizing its relationships as well, and we want to thank them for the assistance they’ve had in the success of the Abraham Accords so far,” Pompeo said on Wednesday at a meeting with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud.

Pompeo said he hopes Saudi Arabia will also encourage Palestinian leaders to return to negotiations with Israel.

As for Sudan, Abu Al-Qasim Bortom, told The Times of Israel that he wants to organize a delegation of Sudanese civilians to visit Israel in order “to break the psychological barrier” between the two nations.

“This delegation is not about politics, or about business. It is about encouraging our government to accelerate normalization with Israel. We want to help our government take more serious steps towards normalization,” Bortom said.

“I always tell people, I think the Koran calls for normalization with Israel and with the Jews. It says that we can eat from their food and marry their people,” Bortom said. “Our religion does not call for enmity with Israel or the Jews.”

Bortom said that there is popular support throughout the country for normalized relations with Israel.

“The average Sudanese person has no problem with having open ties with Israel. This isn’t my opinion, but rather the opinion of many Sudanese,” he said.

I've never read a book on leadership quite like this. Ron Cantor's approach is totally unique. This is not a book of pithy motivational poster quotes. Ron is honest and vulnerable.
