Trump peace plan to deal with borders, unified Palestinian government

Donald Trump’s senior aide and son in law Jared Kushner told Sky News Arabia this week that the forthcoming U.S. peace plan will address all the main issues of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, including borders.

While the details remain secret, Kushner said the plan would include freedom of religion and increased “freedom of movement for people and goods” that would economically benefit the wider Middle East. Of course, freedom of religion is not an issue in Israel. It is amongst Palestinians, though. Christians have suffered persecution and Judaism is not tolerated at all. The Arabs destroyed everything Jewish in the Old City of Jerusalem from 1948 until Israel recovered it in 1967.

Kushner said the White House would also like to see a unified Palestinian government, instead of the current situation with Gaza and the West Bank geographically separated with different governments.

“We want to see Palestinians under one leadership that will allow them to live in dignity,” Kushner said. “We are trying to come up with realistic and fair solutions that are relevant to the year 2019.”

The plan is set to be announced two days after Israeli elections.
