Trump expected to reveal part of peace plan next month in Bahrain
U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that a conference next month in Bahrain will be the forum in which he unveils part of his “deal of the century” peace plan for Israel and the Palestinians.
The reveal will be part of an economic forum and will detail many financial incentives for Palestinians. However, not only has the Palestinian Authority refused to attend, Hamas has called on Bahrain to ban Israel from attending.
“We demand from Bahrain and its noble people not to allow the Israeli occupation, the murderers of the Palestinians, to desecrate their land,” the terror organization stated. Hamas was careful not to mention that they themselves murder Palestinians routinely, who date protest Hamas’ iron, Islamic rule that has led to dreadful economic conditions.
The group voiced their opposition to “any economic, political or other step that could be a prelude to the ‘Deal of the Century.” The Palestinian Authority also distanced itself from the conference.
“We were not consulted by any party on the announced meeting to take place in Manama, Bahrain,” said Saeb Erekat, secretary general of the Palestine Liberation Organization. “We have not mandated any party to negotiate on our behalf.”
Core political issues such as final borders and the status of Jerusalem will not be addressed at this conference which will instead focus on business and financial incentives with the aim of achieving Palestinian prosperity. Personally, I think this is brilliant. Instead of focusing on the extremely difficult issue of a two state solution or Israeli settlements, they are focusing on how to better the lives of Palestinians through economic initiatives.
But make no mistake, the corrupt Palestinian Authority has little interest in helping their people. Instead, they steal form them and get rich. Arafat died a billionaire (nearly). If the Palestinians economy grows, they will vote out both Hamas and the PA. No, the capitalize on the dire economic condition that they themselves created.
“Any solution to the conflict in Palestine must be political … and based on ending the occupation,” Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh said. “The current financial crisis is a result of a financial war waged against us and we will not succumb to blackmail and extortion and will not trade our national rights for money.”
Of course, this is a lie. Israel has always been willing to help, even as we partner now with Jordanian farmers, teaching them how to prosper with our technology. When Israel left Gaza in 2005, we left behind farms, equipment, green houses and more…and the very forces that the P.A. hired to protect them looted them.
“The damage to the greenhouses, which are meant to provide employment for hundreds of Palestinians and increase the PA’s exports, is irreparable, the sources added.” (source)
However, Hebron Palestinian businessman Ashraf Jabari – who we reported about last week – was invited and will attend the conference as the representative of the Judea and Samaria Chamber of Commerce, a joint Palestinian and Israeli group of which he is a founding member.
In recent years, Israel has made diplomatic and economic partnerships with previously hostile Arab nations, such as Bahrain.
