Report: Palestinians being arrested for Pro-Israel sentiments

An Israeli reporter said the Palestinian Authority has arrested several Palestinians that he interviewed who expressed support for Israeli annexation of parts of the West Bank. There is no such thing as freedom of speech in “Palestine”.

Tzvi Yehezkeli of Channel 13 said at least six people he interviewed were subsequently arrested by the PA’s security services despite their faces being blurred and their voices distorted in the televised news segment.

“I was surprised to see that even though I’ve blurred the faces of all the people I filmed and distorted their voices, the Authority has reached and arrested (some) of them, it’s just amazing,” Yehezkeli told the AFP news agency.

One of the Palestinians interviewed in the news report said he didn’t see “Israelis as enemies — their government is the enemy.” And another said he “chose Israel” and wasn’t afraid to speak out publicly.

In the report, many Palestinians had expressed hope that they would get Israeli identification cards or even citizenship. The PA is officially opposed to Israel declaring sovereignty over any of the land in question. In fact, according to a poll some 88 percent of Palestinians oppose the “Trump plan” which allows for Israel to declare sovereignty over certain portions of the West Bank. The poll by the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research also showed that 52 percent even said they would support a return to armed struggle.

Nevertheless, Yehezkeli found many Palestinians who do not share the same outright opposition of their leaders. He said that many told him “we don’t care about annexation” and that “the Palestinian Authority has failed” and was “corrupt.” He also said he feels responsible for the alleged arrests.

Palestinian interior ministry spokesman Ghassan Nimr told AFP it had not made any arrests connected to this news report and a police spokesman also denied making any arrests in connection to the broadcast.
