Pres. Trump nominated for Nobel Prize; plans to ink UAE-Israel deal in DC next week
The historic agreement between Israel and the United Arab Emirates — called the Abraham Accord — is set to be signed next week in a Washington ceremony on Sept. 15 with Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and UAE Foreign Affairs Minister, the crown prince’s brother, Abdullah bin Zayed.
Presiding over the deal his administration brokered will be U.S. President Donald Trump who has been nominated for a Nobel Peace prize for this.
“No matter how Trump acts at home and what he says at press conferences, he has absolutely a chance at getting the Nobel Peace Prize,” Christian Tybring-Gjedde told The Associated Press.
Tybring-Gjedde, a member of the Norwegian Parliament, said the agreement “opens up for possible peace in the Middle East.”
Remember, Obama got the Nobel prize for just getting elected and giving a speech in Cairo that bore no fruit and in fact created instability in the Middle East and North Africa. He should return it—and the $1,000,000 he got as a result.
Netanyahu will attend the Washington signing and is “proud … to participate in the historic ceremony in the White House, celebrating establishing a peace treaty between Israel and the United Arab Emirates.”
The following week, a UAE delegation is expected in Israel. Last week in Abu Dhabi, Israel and UAE started discussions on opening embassies in each other’s countries. The Israeli delegation was headed by National Security Adviser Meir Ben-Shabbat and an American delegation with special advisor to the president Jared Kushner. The teams arrived on the first-ever direct flight by an Israeli airline, El Al, from Israel to the UAE — and flew over Saudi Arabia airspace, another first.
Though ties have not been formalized yet, the first Israeli clothing brand flew a team of producers and an Israeli model to Dubai this week for a first-ever photoshoot by an Israeli company in the Emirates. Because the deal is still not official, the team jumped through loopholes with the assistance of a Dubai company, and used non-Israeli passports to enter the country since visas are not yet available to Israelis.
The photoshoot went viral with a photo of the Israeli model posing with a Dubai-based model holding their countries’ respective flags. This the beginning of what Israelis and Emiratis alike hope is a fruitful future for both countries with billions of dollars potential in business potential.
Meanwhile, in a show of the high anticipation of receiving tourists from each nation, the Department of Culture and Tourism in Abu Dhabi advised all hotels “to include Kosher food options on room service menus and at all food & beverage outlets in their establishments.”
“The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi is instructing all hotel establishments of the following: To seek Kosher certification for handling kosher meals; To designate an area in all kitchens for Kosher food preparation; To label Kosher menu items with a clear and visible label/reference with a recognisable symbol that denotes ‘Kosher’, as per acquired certification.”
