Israeli ambassador to UN walks out of Erdogan’s ‘antisemitic’ speech

Gilad Erdan, Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations, walked out of the General Assembly during a speech by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday in which he castigated Israel.

“The dirty hand that reaches the privacy of Jerusalem, where the sacred places of the three great religions coexist, is constantly increasing its audacity,” Erdogan said.

Erdogan criticized the peace agreements between Israel and the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, while commending the Palestinians for standing up to “Israel’s policies of violence and intimidation for more than half a century.”

“The occupation and oppression of Palestine is a bleeding wound of humanity,” Erdogan said. Erdogan, who is becoming more of a dictator than president, persecuting any in his own government who express displeasure with him, is right at home with the corrupt Palestinian Authority, who for decades have gotten rich be stealing aid money from the Palestinian people. He has having a meltdown as Arab countries thumb their noses at him, and seek normalization with Israel.

“Turkey will not support any plan the Palestinian people do not consent to,” Erdogan said. “[The plan] does not mean anything beyond serving Israel’s efforts to erode basic international parameters.”

He also slammed countries that have announced their intention to open embassies in Jerusalem.

Erdan left the hall and issued a statement.

“Erdogan continues to spout anti-Semitic and false statements against Israel. It is important that the world recognizes the double moral standard he has lived by for many years,” he said.
