Israeli actress Shira Haas to play Golda Meir in American TV series

With a stellar year under her belt including nominations for Best Actress for her role in Netflix’s “Unorthodox,” Israeli actress Shira Haas has been tapped to play Israel’s first and only female Prime Minister, Golda Meir, in an upcoming TV series.

“Lioness” will be produced by MGM/UA Television and is based on a book by the same name by Francine Klagsbrun.

Deadline, a Hollywood entertainment news website, reported that the series will follow Meir’s life from “her birth in Kiev to her American upbringing in Milwaukee, her role in the formation of Israel and her rise to become the new nation’s first and only female prime minister.”

Haas, 25, was nominated for a Golden Globe and a Primetime Emmy for “Unorthodox.” Locally, she is known for her role on the Israeli hit show, Shtisel, which is aired on Netflix. She has been nominated five times for the Israeli Academy Awards (Ophir Awards) and won twice. In 2020, she won the Tribeca Film Festival Award for Best International Actress for her performance in the Israeli film, Asia.

I've never read a book on leadership quite like this. Ron Cantor's approach is totally unique. This is not a book of pithy motivational poster quotes. Ron is honest and vulnerable.
