Diplomatic progress: Israel to open embassy in Bahrain, Czech Republic in Israel

According to one news report, Israel will open an embassy in Bahrain by the end of the year and has even scouted out new locations already.

Israel wants to get a temporary office open quickly and will find a permanent location afterwards by the end of 2021. Relations between Israel and Bahrain are surging forward since the signing of the Abraham Accords in September and several state visits between the two countries in the last several weeks.

The two nations have signed several deals to enable travel, tourism, commerce and other financial deals in the past few days with more expected.

Meanwhile, the Czech Republic has said it will open diplomatic mission in Jerusalem, fulfilling a two-year-old promise by President Milos Zeman. On Wednesday, Czech Ambassador to Israel Martin Stropnický delivered a letter to the Foreign Ministry announcing his government’s intentions to open a diplomatic office in Jerusalem.

In the last three months, Kosovo, Serbia, Dominican Republic and Malawi have also announced their intentions to open embassies in Jerusalem. Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates will open embassies in Israel but mist likely in Tel Aviv, not in the capital.

Israeli Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi thanked his Czech counterpart, Tomáš Petříček, for his government’s decision.

“This is an important step that indicates the friendship between the peoples and the recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of the State of Israel and the Jewish people. Jerusalem will remain our capital forever,” he said. “I sincerely hope that we will soon inaugurate the Czech delegation in Jerusalem and see the flags of the countries hoisted over the offices of the missions in the capitals of the two countries, as a sign of the brave friendship and strategic partnership between the countries.”

I've never read a book on leadership quite like this. Ron Cantor's approach is totally unique. This is not a book of pithy motivational poster quotes. Ron is honest and vulnerable.
