Anti-Israel BDS uses George Floyd death to promote anti-IDF blood libel (as in LIE!)
Police Spokesman: “There is no procedure that allows an officer of the Israel Police to carry out an arrest by placing a knee on the neck of a suspect.”
Boycott Israel groups and anti-Israel movements on American college campuses are using the tragedy of George Floyd’s murder to launch dangerous blood libels against Israel and specifically the IDF.
“The Israeli military trains US police in racist and repressive policing tactics, which systematically targets black and brown bodies,” the US Campaign for Palestinian Rights claimed in a social media post. And the Democratic Socialists of America’s Boycott Divestment Sanctions group claimed, “knee to the neck” is “straight out of the IDF playbook.”
“The knee-to-neck choke-hold that (Derek) Chauvin used to murder George Floyd has been used and perfected to torture Palestinians by Israeli occupation forces through 72 years of ethnic cleansing and dispossession,” according to a petition stemming from the University of California.
The only thing is that the Minneapolis police never had such training with the IDF or any Israeli law enforcement agency.
The Palestinian Authority shared photos on social media of Israeli soldiers pinning down Palestinian terrorists to compare to Floyd’s killing.
“This is an unconscionable demonization of Israel, but also of George Floyd. It’s far from the first time the Palestinian Authority has latched on to recent events, however,” the Post continued. “For weeks the PA and others in the Arabic world have been sharing antisemitic cartoons and content comparing Israel to the COVID-19 virus. It seems there isn’t any event in the world that the Palestinian Authority can’t twist to make themselves the center of attention.”
“No one’s response to the killing of George Floyd should be attacking Jews, Israel, or any other entity they happen to disagree with for political reasons. This attempt to do so is yet another modern manifestation of a blood libel, not to mention the fact that it distracts from the true culprit for the crime against George Floyd – the ugly racism that still exists in the hearts of so many individuals.”
Israel Police national spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said the, “BDS movement is continuing to distort facts.”
“There is no procedure that allows an officer of the Israel Police to carry out an arrest by placing a knee on the neck of a suspect,” Rosenfeld said. “There is no police counter-terrorism training in the Israel national police force to foreign law enforcement officers that involves such a measure. It does not exist in any police text book.”
The accusations are not limited to the United States. Rosenfeld’s comments came after a British website published an article said the police responsible for Floyd’s death “received training in restraint techniques and anti-terror tactics from Israeli law-enforcement officers.”
Rosenfeld said that such connections potentially detract from the war on terrorism.
“The organizations that are calling out specifically in the US against law enforcement learning and sharing are weakening the nation’s preparedness to respond to terror attacks, hate crimes and extremists who break the law,” Rosenfeld said. “Learning and sharing have saved many lives.”
